Service Description

Scrambling is the area between Hill walking and mountaineering and is an exciting adventure that lets you explore the mountains off the well-trodden path. Eryri (Snowdonia national park) has a plethora of scrambling routes for all abilities and taste and is an activity that all of us at Climbaxe do on a regular basis. Our intro to scrambling course will introduce you to some of the finest grade 1 routes Eryri has to offer, from the exposed ridge line of Crib Goch, the amazing mountaineering feel of the mighty North ridge of Tryfan or weaving your way up the amazing Gribin ridge with its stunning views over Cwm Idwal, take it from us its simply the best way to move through the mountains. What's in store? We will meet at a designated place for 9am on the morning of our day and go over the plan for the day’s events, taking in weather conditions, group members abilities and kit checks. The days outline will be: - The use of guidebooks, understanding grades, choosing a route - Basic Navigation to the route - Route finding and picking the best line. - Footwork and technique. - Protecting group members, spotting, group management. - Emergency procedures, choosing your descent route. What do I need? You will be spending the day at venues in a mountain environment and finishing around 4.30pm so a day pack containing the necessary clothing to keep you dry and warm is paramount. This course is especially for the regular hill walker who wants to expand their experience in the mountain environment and move onto routes that require the need to move over ground that requires climbing of small rock outcrops as part of the journey. Good sturdy, well-worn boots are a must. Don’t worry we’ll have everything else covered! Upon booking a full kit list and further details will be sent. Cost: £55 per person per day. Ratio 1:6
