Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Guided Winter Ascent

Service Description

The mountain Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) a Welsh term meaning the “tomb” or “burial ground” is the jewel in the Eryri National park as fantastic as it is in the summer months in winter it takes on a whole new feel, from the frozen lakes, the snow and ice crusted Trinity face, used as a training ground for the successful 1953 ascent of Everest by Hillary and Tenzing it is simply stunning. This day is conditions and weather dependant, and usually runs from December to March throughout the week, updates and availability are posted on our social media pages, so keep an eye out for posts. What do I need? You will be spending the day at venues in a winter mountain environment and finishing around 4.30pm so a day pack containing the necessary clothing to keep you dry and warm is paramount. If you have your own helmet, Ice axe and crampons you are very welcome to bring them along, if not let us know and we can supply you with them. Don’t worry we’ll have everything else covered! Upon booking a full kit list and further details will be sent. This course is non-residential, there is an abundance of accommodation available in Llanberis and the surrounding area from Youth Hostels to very good hotels, even try and stay at the Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel where the 1953 Everest team stayed, also there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways for all diets.
